a Kenneth Noland fan

People say my montages and paintings don't seem to have much in common. But in Kenneth Noland, who just left us, they do. ...I've cut his paintings in reproduction many times and worshipped him as painter too. And his more recent work is right up there, like this painting above from 2000. Maybe five years ago a target graced an ArtNews cover - I couldn't believe how fresh it was, stunning, completely inspiring. I kept it for a long time and cut it. The Portland Art Museum has a nice assortment of Noland via the Clement Greenberg collection, although most of them are before he hit his stride as a colorist.
