Once Drape was finished, I went back into cut and paste. There are several bodies of work in progress at once – the Judd Montages, the Targets and also, the Anonymous Women, of which the above is one. Perhaps out of them all, I’ve enjoyed these women the most. They are made of everything that interests me. I suppose you’d think that all collage would be that way, but it isn’t always the case. One image might be at complete service to another; it is support material rather than a main course. That happens in my painting a lot actually. But everything with these women comes from prime piles.
