Anonymous Woman No. 16

Soon I will be opening a show at Frosch and Portmann in New York City. The featured work will be The Judd Montages. As we get closer to the show, I will post some images. In the meantime, I thought I would share Anonymous Women who have yet to make it to this blog.

Anonymous Woman No.44

I let the beauty show but draped the mind. Or maybe it was very skillfully draped for me. This makes want to go out and find tons of old curtain catalogs, if there is such a thing.

In the past year I have made almost one collage a week. Many of them I have not posted here, so I will try to play catch-up this next month.

As I make The Anonymous Women, it occurs to me that while I think they are jumping out of their place, a carpet we step on - some are actually attempting to blend in, to be in a sort of camouflage. It may reflect to my own state right now too. I'm more sensitive to the various suits as I pull them on. I am not saying I hate the suit. Just that I feel it.

Kelsey Bunker on KBOO

Listen to the interview here.

I first met Kelsey Bunker when the Jupiter was newly opened and the Affair at The Jupiter Hotel was on. Those were heady times. I was working for Gallery 500, the hot spot of the late night art scene here. At the Affair I met people from all over the country and some I still know today. And now Kelsey has opened a new gallery right in the courtyard of the hotel. The gallery also functions as the check-in, so it gets plenty of action. It is curated by Francois Pascal and if you look around the website, you'll see that the gallery is taking submissions. The receptions were busy too. Kelsey will be my guest on Art Focus this coming Tuesday, the 6th.
